Using the figure: 1) Start DAZ Studio. 2) Add your favorite Genesis 8 Female character to the scene 3) Go to the DAZ Content > People > Genesis 8 Female > 3D&D > Hair Go to either of these folders: Princess Ilia Hair or Queen Astra Hair 4) Drag the hair to your character. Materials for these hair models are located under either: Princess Ilia Hair\Materials Queen Astra Hair\Materials Each hair folder contains the Hair wearable\conformer and a *Materials* folder. The Materials folder contains two complete material presets, *Default Straight* and *Default Coiled*, as well as a *Colours* folder. *Default Straight* is the material loaded automatically when the hair is first applied. It uses a medium brown colour and surface properties designed to represent relatively straight hair, as commonly seen across many Caucasian, East Asian, Latin American, and other human phenotypes. *Default Coiled* changes both the colour and the surface properties. It uses a very dark brown to nearly black colour together with surface properties designed for tightly coiled hair, as commonly seen across many African, Melanesian, Australian Aboriginal, and other human phenotypes. The presets inside the *Colours* folder work differently. They change the hair colour without replacing its other surface properties. This means that the *Default Straight* and *Default Coiled* presets found inside the Colours folder are not duplicates of the complete material presets with the same names. They are *colour-only presets*. For example, you can apply the complete *Default Coiled* material to give the hair tightly coiled surface properties, then apply *Colours > Default Straight* to change only its colour to the lighter default brown. The hair will remain coiled. Likewise, you can use the complete *Default Straight* material and then apply *Colours > Default Coiled* to give it the darker default colour while retaining the straight-hair surface properties. The other presets directly inside the Colours folder are mostly multicoloured or fantasy styles, such as *Vampire*, *Unicorn*, and *Pride*. The subfolders inside Colours contain complete ranges of colours inspired by real-world commercial hair-colouring products. The *Ageing Gracefully* folders instead contain assorted natural grey and white hair colours. In short, use *Materials > Default Straight* or *Materials > Default Coiled* when you want to change the complete appearance of the hair. Use presets inside *Materials > Colours* when you want to change the colour while keeping the existing hair surface properties.
